volatile solvent abuse – the forgotten problem

Glue-sniffing seems a long-solved problem, but volatile solvent abuse in its various forms still kills more people each year than legal highs and, in some groups it is on the rise. Researchers have been tracking the problems for years, striving to work out just how bad this forgotten problem is, why certain unexpected groups are prone to abuse and what needs to be done in the future.

  • What is volatile substance abuse and why does it matter?
  • How bad is it compared to other drugs?
  • How this can still be a problem?
  • Are there differences between the genders? What age group is now the biggest problem?
  • What can be done and is it manufacturers, policy makers or the public that need to be listening?
