Q&A on NERVTAG paper from Friday on severity/lethality of the UK variant of concern

We asked some of the authors of the NERVTAG paper looking at the severity/lethality of the UK variant of concern (published last Friday: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/nervtag-paper-on-covid-19-variant-of-concern-b117) if they were available to answer questions from science journalists for 30 minutes this morning.

Please note the scientists did not have anything new to share – this was a chance for the journalists to ask them their questions about the science and the evidence behind Fridays paper.

Speakers included:

Prof Peter Horby, Professor of Emerging Infectious Diseases, University of Oxford, and Chair of NERVTAG

Prof John Edmunds, Professor in the Centre for the Mathematical Modelling of Infectious Diseases, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, and member of NERVTAG

Prof Graham Medley, Professor of Infectious Disease Modelling, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine

SMC Rapid Reaction on announcement at Downing Street press conference and publishing of NERVTAG paper.
