The JUNIPER (Joint UNIversities Pandemic and Epidemiological Research) Consortium have been modelling the impact of new variants within England. Journalists tuned in to hear from the authors of a new preprint which looks at the emergence of the delta (B.1.617.2) variant in England and how it is spreading, looking at multiple lines of evidence, to work out why it is becoming the dominant strain. The authors were able to run through the results and explain the background, strengths and limitations to these kinds of studies.
Please note this data is a preprint, so it is early work that has not yet been through peer-review and is not published in a journal.
