Missing Titanic submersible – Q&A on the science and engineering

The submersible ‘Titan’ carrying five people to the site of the Titanic wreckage off the Canadian coast went missing on the 18th of June. Since then, many efforts have been made to locate and rescue it.

While there is no new information being presented at this briefing, this was a chance for journalists to get answers to their questions about this ongoing situation from a panel of experts who can cover marine engineering of the submersible, the investigations and technology being used to locate it, and other science and engineering aspects of the search.

Speakers will include:

Prof Alistair Greig, Professor of Marine Engineering, University College London

Dr Jamie Pringle, Reader in Forensic Geosciences, Keele University

Dr Rob Larter, Marine Geophysicist, British Antarctic Survey
