House of Lords Science and Technology Committee report: “Science and technology superpower”, more than a slogan?

The government has stated its ambition to make the UK a “science and tech superpower”.  But what does that actually mean and how well is the Government doing on delivering a convincing science strategy for the UK?  A new report from the House of Lords Science and Technology Committee assesses the Government’s plan and examines things like:

  • What it means for the UK to be a “science and tech superpower”
  • Whether the Government has the right structures in place to implement a science and technology strategy
  • Whether the Government is on track to meet the target to spend 2.4% of GDP on R&D by 2027
  • What more should be done to encourage private-sector investment in R&D in the UK
  • UK research collaboration with international partners

Baroness Brown of Cambridge DBE FREng FRS
