Food Standards Agency background briefing on food safety in the UK after Brexit

As the UK forges new trade relationships, how can we be sure that the standard of our food will be upheld? This briefing provided information on the FSA’s enhanced role in food safety now that we’ve left the European Union and how its mission to put consumers at the heart of every decision is as important now as it ever was.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) asked us to host a background briefing with leading scientific experts in the agency who took journalists through the process by which food safety will be assessed in a post-Brexit UK.

Speakers included:

Professor Robin May, Chief Scientific Adviser, FSA and Professor of Infectious Disease, University of Birmingham

Professor Rick Mumford, Deputy Director of Science and Head of Science, Evidence and Research Division, FSA

Rebecca Sudworth, Head of Policy, FSA
