Reactions to a bulletin published by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) on the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
Prof Corinne Le Quéré FRS, Director of the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research at the University of East Anglia, said:
“I am not surprised, but I am very concerned that all three greenhouse gases most responsible for climate change (CO2, methane, and nitrous oxide) are rising upwards unabated. It seems the urgency and extent of the actions needed to address climate change have not sunk in.
“Low carbon technologies like wind, solar, and electric transport need to become mainstream, with old-fashion polluting fossils pushed out rapidly.”
‘The WMO Greenhouse Gas Bulletin’ was published by the WMO at 9am UK TIME Thursday 22 November, 2018.
