top tips and a tool for interpreting mathematical models on COVID-19

The pandemic has brought mathematical models to the forefront of the media coverage and we are seeing new models looking at COVID-19 scenarios on a regular basis.

Journalists joined two experts on the mathematical analysis of infectious disease outbreaks to hear their top tips on how to interpret and report on these models, and answer their questions.

Prof Azra Ghani also introduced and gave a tutorial on how to use an updated COVID-19 Scenario Analysis Tool developed by the team at Imperial College London in partnership with biotech company, AquAffirm, which now includes the ability to analyse potential vaccination scenarios.

Speakers included:

Prof Azra Ghani, Chair in Infectious Disease Epidemiology, Imperial College London.

Dr Adam Kucharski, Associate Professor in Infectious Disease Epidemiology, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
