NHS England have released the latest figure for reported deaths in hospitals in England – an additional 370 deaths since yesterday, bringing the total to 20,853.
Prof Carl Heneghan Professor of Evidence-Based Medicine, Director of the Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine and Prof Jason Oke, Senior Statistician at the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, University of Oxford, said:

“Today’s reported figure is 370 deaths in hospitals in England. These deaths are distributed back to the 13th of March.
“For comparison: the deaths reported in hospitals in England on the same weekday 1, 2 and 3 weeks ago were:
25th of April: 711 deaths.
18th of April: 784 deaths.
11th of April: 823 deaths.”
