The UK Chief Medical officer (CMO), Prof Chris Whitty, has confirmed 12 new cases of COVID-19.
Prof Sian Griffiths, Emeritus Professor, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, said:
“The increase in cases is not unexpected particularly since, according to media reports, all have travel histories from countries with larger numbers of cases than the UK. Applying the principles of the containment policy contact tracing will hopefully identify close contacts who can self isolate and hence the chain of transmission can be interrupted.”
