According to the Met Office, provisional figures mean that 2015 was the warmest year on record (dating back to 1850).
Prof. Piers Forster, University of Leeds:
“It’s the long term warming trend we need to worry about rather than one hot year, so we shouldn’t get too excited – but it is certainly a sign of things to come.”
