Archives of Internal Medicine published a meta-review of 29 randomized controlled trials, suggesting that acupuncture may be better than no acupuncture or sham acupuncture for the treatment of some chronic pain. A Before the Headlines analysis was also sent out. read more

Aric Sigman wrote in the Archives of Disease in Childhood, calling for curbs on children’s daily screen time and delaying the age at which they start “the world’s favourite pastime” to stave off the risk of serious health and developmental problems. read more

bloodhound: start your engines
On 3rd October 2012, the hybrid rocket at the heart of the Bloodhound land speed record attempt will be fired at a site near Newquay airport. This is the biggest rocket test in Britain for 20 years and marks a milestone in the building of the vehicle which will attempt to reach a speed of 1000mph in 2014. read more
