Reaction to the appointment of Paul Nurse as the new President of the Royal Society
The British geneticist Paul Nurse, currently the President of Rockefeller University in New York, has been named as the only candidate to succeed Martin Rees as the President of the Royal Society.
Sir Roland Jackson, Chief Executive of the British Science Association, said:
"I welcome the nomination of Paul Nurse, as an outstanding scientist who is also a superb communicator. At a time when the relationship of the sciences and scientists to society is so important, his instinctive and expert ability to place science in its wider context will be of great value to us all."
