Nuffield Council on Bioethics report on cosmetic procedures

The Nuffield Council on Bioethics published a new report, ‘Cosmetic procedures: ethical issues’, on Thursday 22 June 2017. The report identifies areas of concern around the ethics of both practice and promotion of invasive cosmetic procedures in the UK, including botox, dermal fillers, implants, skin lightening, and other new procedures.

The new report looks at the progress made in the area since the 2013 DH-commissioned review of cosmetic procedures led by Sir Bruce Keogh, and makes recommendations around things like the products themselves, the practitioners carrying out the procedures and their premises. The report also looks at the wider social context including young people accessing cosmetic procedures and the role of social media.
