Genetics in a Nutshell is designed to be useful for busy news desks, especially those that lack ready access to a science correspondent.

This leaflet provides you with a clear explanation of some of the terms that are now used in stories about medical genetics.

It is intended as a handy guide, to be kept on your desk for use when genetics hits the headlines. It is not meant to teach you genetics from scratch!
