Climate change and the Trump presidency

Donald Trump has said that no-one really knows whether climate change is real. Scientists tend to disagree. But what will the new presidency have in store for the US approach to climate change? Will the new administration derail global efforts to tackle emissions or is the momentum of global politics, science and business already too strong for a shift in stance to make much difference? And does this really herald a new age of climate denial or is there room for optimism?

Three senior climate scientists will be at the SMC four days before the new US leader is sworn in to give you their views and answer questions about what they expect over the next four years.

Speakers:

Prof. Corinne Le Quéré FRS, Professor of Climate Change Science and Policy at the University of East Anglia and Director of the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research

Prof. Joanna Haigh FRS, Professor of Atmospheric Physics and Co-Director of the Grantham Institute for Climate Change and the Environment at Imperial College London

Prof. Myles Allen, Professor of Geosystem Science at the University of Oxford
